| MANHUA WONDERLANDS:
OUT OF THE INTERNET (AND INTO THE NIGHTCLUB)
Existing as the subterranean doppelganger to MAAP: Out of the Internet,
Manhua Wonderlands unfurls its tentacles into Brisbane's hidden
underground spaces, and presents re-documentation of surreal, hyperreal,
and fantastical infiltrations of Chinatown's karaoke clubs, sticker
booth arcades, and grimy labyrinthine tunnels.
The exhibition presents a series of collaborative projects, costumed
(cos-play) performances, and site-specific installations involving media
artists working with Brisbane's Australian-Asian communities.
The Manhua Wonderlands: Out of the Internet (and into the nightclub)
exhibition was featured in MAAP: Out of the Internet 2006 Festival, and
was exhibited amongst industrial scaffolding design at the State Library
of Queensland from the 30th November 2006 - 25 January 2007.
